first of all. What is Altcoins, Altcoins are others coins apart from Bitcoin. Bitcoin itself is the father or pioneer or Genesis of crypto.

In crypto,Altcoins plays important roles such as.

1. Innovation. Altcoins bring more innovation into the crypto space.

2. Another unique use case that Bitcoin can't offer 

3. More investment opportunities for crypto investors. With the help of  Altcoins like, Eth, Sol, ada, etc, it gives everyone the opportunity to dersify or split the funds invested in crypto coins.

There are some risk in investing in Altcoins,they help in innovation, more investment opportunities and more use case, but it have its own disadvantages.

The disadvantage are many but I Will mention few,

1.Altcoins can be highly volatile, the price of Altcoins is not all that stable when compared to BTC, so it advice to do your own research before investing. Because buying the pump or All time high is very dangerous.

2. Regulatory uncertainty,Altcoins faces alot of  regulatory when compared to BTC 

3. Security risks:- Altcoins can be vulnerable to security threats, Altcoins is vulnerable to security threat e.g hacking, 51% attack, dust attack, liquidity manipulation etc.

There are thousands of hacking and billions of dollars have been stolen from Altcoins. But BTC is not vulnerable.
