Airdrop in crypto 

Token airdrops seem to be a thing in crypto PR right now. An airdrop is basically when a blockchain project decides to distribute free tokens, or coins, to the community. This happens after the project has completed its ICO and the token has become tradeable on the open market.

A cryptocurrency airdrop involves distributing free tokens to wallet holders as a promotional strategy to increase awareness and use of a new digital currency. There are different types of airdrops, including standard airdrops, bounty airdrops, and holder airdrops, each with specific criteria for participation.

Uniswap's $6.43 billion airdrop on September 16, 2020, remains the largest in crypto history. Distributed $UNI at an all-time high (ATH) token price of $42.88 during the DeFi Summer, reigniting interest in airdrop models.

According to DANIEL VAN BOOM on CNET, many people think crypto Airdrops are scams but in reality, Airdrops are not a new thing. Many traditional companies raise funds by going public and offering stocks to the public. Organizations operating on Web3, the blockchain-integrated internet, go a similar route by launching a token that people can buy and sell on exchanges. Some of these token launches are accompanied by airdrops. If you've used the tool that the Web3 organization provides, you get a bunch of tokens dropped into your wallet. Imagine if Adobe went public and, to raise awareness, sent 100 stocks to anyone who'd used Photoshop in the last 12 months. 

To participate in crypto Airdrops, interested participants register for the airdrop by providing their wallet address and other information or performing the required tasks. The project team verifies the eligibility and validity of the participants and distributes the tokens to their wallets according to the rules of the airdrop.
